Sharing is caring!

I came home from work the other day, frustrated after a busy shift in my day job. I had been running around all day and nothing had worked in my favour. Steve knew I’d had a horrible day because I’d been venting to him via text for the last few hours. I walked in the door and there on the kitchen bench was a glass of wine and a gorgeous bunch of flowers that had been delivered. My day changed in an instant.

How amazing is that? Such a simple gesture can change your whole day.

Which got me thinking… why do we only wait for special occasions to buy someone flowers? Or any gift for that matter? When was the last time you sent someone flowers? I can honestly say the last time I sent flowers was for my Mother in-law’s birthday, over a year ago. That’s kind of sad.

So if you’re still struggling for excuses – here’s 10 fantastic reasons to send flowers to someone today.

We all love receiving flowers, but when was the last time you thought to send flowers? And why do we wait for special occasions? Send someone flowers today.

1 – Because you saw a beautiful bunch of flowers and thought ‘hey, they’re pretty’.

We see bunches of flowers everywhere, on the desks of people we work with, on the counters of stores we shop at and in displays everywhere. Why not share this beauty with someone you care about. No special occasion required, simply just because.

2 – Because someone told you they were having a crappy day/week/month.

Flowers are bright, beautiful and they smell amazing. They make us happy every time we see them and when you wake of a morning and the first thing you smell is fresh flowers it sets you up for a brilliant day.

3 – Because someone told you they were having a great day/week/month.

Why not keep piling on the awesomeness for someone and send them a bunch of flowers when they are feeling on top of the world?

4 – Because you haven’t spoken to someone in a while.

And you want them to know you’re thinking of them. Sometimes life just takes over and we don’t get to speak to the ones we love often enough. Sometimes we are too busy for a phone call or lose track of time and realise it’s been months since you last caught up. Send a bunch of flowers to let them know you think of them.

5 – Because you want to celebrate.

It doesn’t have to be celebrating an anniversary or any other special date. But just celebrating something simple – like celebrating that your baby slept through the night for the first time or celebrating your friend’s new job. Every day is worth celebrating.

6 – Because you want to show someone you care.

Flowers are an emotional gift, they come from the heart and can mean so much. Giving someone flowers is just as rewarding as getting them yourself. It feels amazing to know that you have put a smile on someone’s face.

7 – Because random acts of kindness are amazing.

We’ve all heard of random acts of kindness, where we do something selfless for someone else. It can be as simple as smiling at someone, or buying the next person in line behind you coffee – but it can also be something kind for someone you know. Pick a friend out of your contacts list on your phone and send them a bunch of flowers. Imagine how amazing they will feel.

8 – Because you’ll earn some massive brownie points.

Not that this should be your only reason… but we all know it’s true. Just remember it might not help when the conversation goes something like this… ‘Remember that time I bought you flowers… yeah, well I just reversed into your car.’ That’s a whole lot of flowers you’re going to need.

9 – Because you want to brighten your home up.

By sending yourself flowers. That’s right, send them to yourself. Give me one good reason why you shouldn’t… exactly! You can’t! For all the benefits above, for brightening your day, for lifting your mood, for showing yourself that you actually care about your own happiness – send yourself some flowers. Even better – see if the florist can send them on a random day so it’s almost like a surprise as to when they are going to arrive.

10 – Because – for absolutely no reason at all.

Who says you need a reason? Even if none of the reasons above fit, then this one will. Just because. I think that’s the best reason of them all. (Just so you know… tulips are my favourite – you know, just in case…)

Flowers are an incredible gift, they can say so much and mean so much to different people. And there’s been a big shift in women buying flowers for men and that is amazing. Just because you’re a male doesn’t mean you don’t value a beautiful bunch of flowers. Men need to feel loved and thought of, too.

So make today the day that you buy someone a bunch of flowers. It can be as elaborate or as simple as you want. Head over to the Fresh Flowers site to find the perfect arrangement (tulips are my favourite again, just in case you missed that before).

Their website has an amazing array of flowers to choose from and Fresh Flowers deliver flowers to Melbourne and all over the country. They even have a free reminder service for you to use so you’re not storing your reminders on your phone (which always gets sent to the cloud… everything goes to the cloud) for others to see.

I’d love to hear when was the most surprising time you received flowers or maybe the best time you gave flowers to someone else? Leave your stories in the comments and make sure you share this page with your friends…. You never know, maybe they will send some flowers…

  1. Great post! Thank you for helping me understand the benefits of sending flowers. I really like how you explained that “flowers are an emotional gift, they come from the heart and can mean so much. Giving someone flowers is just as rewarding as getting them yourself. It feels amazing to know that you have put a smile on someone’s face.” My dad gives my mom flowers on her birthday every year and my mom has said that it is the gift that she looks forward to the most every year.

  2. I like that you suggest to send flowers to celebrate. I can see how having flowers could bring more happiness to an already happy event. I’ll have to remember this the next time my family or friends accomplish something.

  3. Sending flowers when they wake up in the morning so the first thing they smell is fresh flowers is a great way to help them have a brilliant day. Having flowers delivered to them would be a great way to show them they are appreciated. I would imagine that finding out their favorite types and colors would help you when deciding what to send.

Unforgettable: One day my husband and I had a disagreement. I am stubborn so I did not want to accept that I was wrong. I went to work upset that morning. After two hours at work I received a dozen long stemmed red roses it smelled sweet. When I opened the card it said ” I forgive you . With all my love Tod,” I could not helped but laughed so much and called my husband right away to let him know that his funny and thoughtful spirit made me feel that I am on top of the world,! Flowers is peace!
